The Sony WF-C700N sports a slightly updated design from its predecessor, featuring a sleeker overall shape and circular microphone modules on each side. It’s also lightweight, coming in at 4.6 g for each bud, and features a waterproof rating of IPX4. Additionally, included together with the product are hybrid silicone rubber tips, and an oval-shaped charging case that resembles the one included together with the WF-C500 from 2021, but without the semi-translucent cover. Under the hood, each side of the earbuds are equipped with Sony’s original 5nm driver unit that promises powerful bass and clear vocals despite its small size. Meanwhile, its built-in battery is touted to provide up to 7.5 hours of continuous playback with NC activated on a single charge, or up to 10 hours with NC off. Using the buds together with the accompanying case will grant up to 15 hours of use. Keep in mind that the NC feature on the WF-C700N isn’t to be confused with the Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) function that’s found on Sony’s high-end audio offerings such as the WF-1000XM4 or the LinkBuds S. Rather than utilising microphones to actively filter out noise, the former is more straightforward – simply blanketing them out through software means, which can be activated or deactivated at any time. That being said, the onboard mics are instead used to allow external audio to pass through via Ambient Sound Mode, filter out wind noise and, of course, pick up your voice for hands-free calls. Besides that, Sony’s latest entry-level earbuds come with multipoint connectivity that lets you pair it with two compatible Bluetooth devices at the same time. Speaking of connectivity, the WF-C700N uses Bluetooth 5.2, which enables for an effective range of 10 m, a frequency range of up to 2.4 Ghz, and supports SBC and AAC audio formats as well as Sony’s DSEE technology. The new Sony WF-C700N is available now for RM 549, and is offered in four colours: White, Black, Sage Green and Lavender. Interested buyers can purchase the new earbuds via the brand’s online store, as well as its physical stores and authorised retailers nationwide. Along with the new earbuds, Sony also announced an all-new colour for its WH-1000XM5 wireless headphones. Joining the existing White and Black models is the Midnight Blue option, which is available now for purchase for RM 1,799, which is the same retail price as the others.
