Mark Gurman from Bloomberg took to Twitter today to detail his expectations from Apple in the next www when it will hold the WWDC event. As per Gurman, the keynote will be focused on three areas majorly- the announcement of new Mac devices, the much anticipated Reality Pro AR/VR headset, and new operating systems. The rumors of new Macs launching at WWDC are not something unheard of. Previously, we have seen several rumors confirming that Apple is indeed planning to bring new Macs on June 5 at the WWDC event. While it is not clear which Mac devices will be launched but it is reported that Apple is working on a new MacBook Air with a 15-inch display powered by the M3 chip. Similarly, a 13-inch MacBook Pro with M3 chip is also in the works. 9to5Mac reported in March this year that its sources have revealed information about a new MacBook Air with a bigger display and a new MacBook Pro with an M3 chip. “According to 9to5Mac’s sources, the new 13-inch MacBook Air (codenamed J513) is already in the works with an M3 chip. It will be announced along with a brand-new 15-inch version (codenamed J515), which will also have the M3 chip.” However, this report does not fall in line with Gurman’s earlier updates. He said recently that the first Macs with M3 chip will launch towards the end of the year or in early 2024. So what does Gurman mean by ‘several new Macs’ in his latest tweet? If Apple’s Mac lineup is to be considered, the company has recently updated the Mac mini and MacBook Pro with powerful chips, so there’s highly unlikely that we will see upgrades this early. While iMac remains a strong contender that we might see at the event because it is long overdue for a major update. But, Gurman said in March in his Power On newsletter that the new iMac with M3 chip is ‘not expected to go into mass production for at least three months,’ so the chances are slim that a new iMac will be launched at WWDC. This leaves us with Mac Pro and Mac Studio. The two Mac devices are still powered by M1 Max and M1 Ultra chips and we might see them receive a major upgrade at the WWDC event.
