The DuitNow QR integration in general has massively expanded Setel’s reach from around 7,000 stores to over a million. However, there are a couple of things that Setel users need to know before they can start making DuitNow QR-based payments. For starters, the support is currently limited to only business-registered DuitNow QR. In other words, you would not be able to perform any transactions from Setel Wallet by scanning a DuitNow QR that was generated by individual users. In addition to that, you also need to check if the payment issuer that the store utilizes is supported by Setel. Here is the list of issuers that currently can be used with the app: Banks: AffinBank, AmBank, Bank Islam, Bank Muamalat, CIMB, Hong Leong Bank, HSBC, OCBC Bank, Public Bank, RHB, UOB Malaysia, E-Wallet: Boost, FavePay, Grab, ShopeePay, Touch ‘n Go eWallet To check who is the actual payment issuer that the store uses, you can refer to the DuitNow QR standee or sticker that is on display at the store. On its website, Setel noted that it is currently working to get Agro Bank and Maybank into the list as well.
Also in the works are the DuitNow QR integration with Setel’s Family Wallet (previously known as Setel Share) and CardTerus features. However, the rollout timeline for all of these upcoming additional capabilities has not yet been revealed by Setel. [Image: Setel.]All in all, the DuitNow QR support is yet another massive milestone for Setel which began its journey as a modest fuel e-payment app at Petronas station back in 2018. The integration not only widen its reach but we reckoned that it may also help elevate Setel’s creditability to another level.
