The Redmi 12 sports a 6.79-inch 1080p LCD display with a refresh rate of 90Hz and a peak brightness of 550 nits. The display is flat as well as the edges, giving it a clean industrial look. It has a side-mounted fingeprint scanner that doubles as the power button and for protection, it has an IP53 rating for dust and water resistance. For the internals, the budget device runs on a MediaTek Helio G88 chipset, paired with between 4GB and 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. Like many other devices in this price category, it comes with a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 1TB. When it comes to photography, Xiaomi fitted the Redmi 12 with a 50MP main rear camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP macro sensor. Housed in the display’s punch-hole cutout is a 16MP selfie shooter. On the software side, the phone ships with MIUI 14 based on Android 13. Powering it is a 5,000mAh battery with support for 18W charging, which the brand claims can last up to 16 hours for video playback. Connectivity-wise, it supports NFC, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, as well as being equipped with an IR blaster and a 3.5mm audio jack. The Redmi 12 is available in three colour options, namely black, blue, and silver. Pricing starts from THN5,299 in Thailand for the base trim but as for Malaysia, the company has yet to announce availability. However, we might not have to wait long as a check shows that the phone already received SIRIM certification last month, indicating that a local launch is imminent. (Source: Xiaomi Thailand)
