Along with the confirmation, the company has revealed some specs of the OPPO A98 as a teaser on its event page. For one thing, the phone will feature a 64MP main camera as well as a microlens with an impressive 40x magnification. While it isn’t confirmed yet, previous leaks claim that it will also have a 2MP depth sensor and a 32MP selfie shooter up front. Additionally, the upcoming device will officially sport a 120Hz display, which is rumoured to be a 6.7-inch 1080p LCD screen with Panda Glass for protection. As for the internals, it will be equipped with 256GB of RAM and according to earlier leaks, it might get 8GB of RAM and will reportedly run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 chipset. The OPPO A98 will be powered by a 5,000mAh battery, which is the standard capacity these days and will support 67W SUPERVOOC wired fast charging. Other unconfirmed specs include IPX4 water resistance, a microSD slot for storage expansion, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. On the software side, the device will allegedly ship with ColorOS 13 based on Android 13. Reports have also claimed that it could come with support for Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, and as you can guess from its full name, it will definitely support 5G. While we now know that the OPPO A98 5G will be unveiled “soon”, the company has yet to reveal an exact date for the launch. As for the pricing, we can take its predecessor’s price tag of RM1,299 and safely estimate that the A98 will be somewhere within that range. (Source: OPPO Press Release)
