The A78 has been spotted on the SIRIM database, receiving certification on 16 June 2023 with the model number CPH2565. Registered by Jie Business, the brand has yet to make any announcements regarding a local launch here but given its listing, it will most likely take place soon.
Because it might be downgraded to 4G, we can surmise that this version of the A78 will carry a cheaper price tag than its 5G variant’s RM1,099 retail price. It’s unclear what configurations it will come in or how many there will be. To recall, the A78 5G sports a 6.56-inch 720p LCD with a 90Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 600 nits as well as Panda Glass for protection. It runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset with a single configuration of 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage alongside a microSD card slot for storage expansion. For photography, it has a two-camera setup consisting of a 50MP main camera and a 2MP depth sensor, with an 8MP selfie shooter housed in the teardrop notch. Powering the entry-level phone is a 5,000mAh battery with support for 33W wired fast charging. Connectivity-wise, the device supports 5G, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and is fitted with a 3.5mm headphone jack. Additionally, the 5G model is equipped with stereo speakers, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and is IPX4 water-resistant. It ships with ColorOS 13 based on Android 13 and comes in two colour options. We’ll have to wait and see what other comprises the A78 4G will make if it is indeed a cheaper variant of the 5G phone.
