As reported by The Verge, Microsoft has outed a new update for the Bing iOS app and it ports a new home screen widget for iPhone. The widget will allow users to start a quick chat with Bing’s AI-powered chatbot with just a click. However, this is not something new as Microsoft also offers the same widget for Android already.

While it is not yet possible for users to interact with the widgets without opening the app on iOS 16, when you tap on the Bing Chat widget on your iPhone’s home screen, you will be taken to the app. However, this might change with iOS 17, which was announced at Apple’s World Wide Developer Conference earlier this month. The new iOS update supports interactive widgets on the home screen. This means users can directly interact with the AI chatbot from the home screen itself, without opening the app if Microsoft brings the functionality to iOS 17 running iPhones. iOS 17 is expected to be released by the fall of this year. Users can also customize the Bing Chat widget on iOS by adding wallpaper to it. The Bing Chat widget is not the only addition that the new update brings. In the preview notes, Microsoft also mentioned that the Bing iOS app now supports even more languages for voice and text-to-speech functionality.  Today, Microsoft has added Arabic, Bulgarian, Catalan, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Filipino, Finnish, Greek, Gujrati, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Icelandic, Indonesian, Irish, Italian, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Marathi, Norsk Bokmål, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish, Tamil, Telugu, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, and Urdu. Microsoft has also improved the performance of the voice input button on the Bing mobile app for iOS, making it easier to activate when a user taps on the button for it.
