Threads app has surfaced on the Apple App Store and is expected to be launched on July 6 or July 7 depending upon the country in which the user resides. Threads will be an app by Instagram instead of Meta as Apple App Store data suggests. This points towards the possibility that Threads will be linked with Instagram and users will be given the option to interlink their Instagram and Threads accounts. While there is no shortage of Twitter rivals on the internet with some famous names being Mastodon, Bluesky, Post, and T2. However, one of the advantages that Threads has over others is that it is an Instagram app, and users can readily port their accounts from there. Other alternatives like BlueSky and T2 are still stuck in the beta phase, where the only option to join the platform is via an invite. We are confident that Mark Zuckerberg will not make this mistake and will try to amp up users as Twitter is falling apart. Meta has also secretly launched a website for Threads, which was uncovered by 9to5Google. The website simply has a colorful animated background with a countdown. Mark Zuckerberg headed company has been working on Threads for a long time now under the project named Barcelona. APK teardown by 9to5Google has revealed that you can instantly follow the same accounts that you follow on Instagram. Similarly, there is an option to keep your profile private if you don’t want to be followed by others. The teardown has also revealed that your Threads username and name are synced with your Instagram account and can only be changed using Instagram. The app description of Threads reads: “Threads is where communities come together to discuss everything from the topics you care about today to what’ll be trending tomorrow. Whatever it is you’re interested in, you can follow and connect directly with your favorite creators and others who love the same things — or build a loyal following of your own to share your ideas, opinions and creativity with the world” Threads app is launching at a time when Elon Musk has applied a rate limit on Twitter, where users can view only a limited number of tweets. This has irked several users who are planning to abandon the platform and look for greener pastures elsewhere.
