Rumours of Black Flag were initially flagged down by Kotaku, who reported that two sources within Ubisoft and familiar with the studio’s inner workings that a remake of the game is in the pipeline, but was still in its developmental stages. Meaning that we won’t be seeing the remake of the game for at least a few more years. One of the Ubisoft offices that is allegedly involved in the Black Flag remake is Ubisoft Singapore and rightly so. When the game was being developed, it was the Singaporean office’s team that was responsible for the design and development of the game’s ocean technology. The sudden appearance of a Black Flag remake rumour has startled many gamers and game industry analysts, more so with regards to the former group, because many of them were expecting Ubisoft to focus its attention on Skull and Bones, the studio’s other pirate-fantasy themed game. Many don’t know this, but Skull and Bones actually started out life as a potential expansion for Black Flag, but then moved on to become its own major title. The game has, unfortunately, been hit with delay after delay. And when it was supposed to finally launch in March this year, Ubisoft delayed it yet again. Now, the studio says that it will hosting a closed beta of the game in August this year, but there is still no word on the game’s launch date. (Source: Kotaku, VG247)
